Olivia Ann King, born on January 21, 2000 is an American singer and songwriter from Frederick, MD. Music has always been part of Olivia’s life from playing instruments beginning at nine years old. In elementary school King picked up flute in the third grade in band class saying “I wanted to challenge myself but instead I got light headed”. Eventually losing interest in the ninth grade, she began to learn piano through hundreds of YouTube videos. “I took maybe three formal piano lessons and absolutely hated every second of it”.
Towards the middle of her sophomore year she began dating Jaen Cuello, singer-songwriter. Influencing her a lot musically, King wanted to do what he could do and that was play the guitar. With the same method of learning piano off of YouTube and lessons in school, Olivia managed to pass Guitar 1 and end up in the same class as Cuello. “I wanted to do what he could do and maybe better”
“I have always enjoyed singing. It wasn’t until high school that I discovered the strength behind it and wanted to keep improving my voice.” Being very shy and always keeping to herself, King would only practice her singing when nobody was home or in her car. Oh.. and the shower, duh. That was then. Now, Olivia finds herself writing songs here and there for other people, sometimes herself, or being the adlibs for Strong Arm Family.
King musical influences include Ariana Grande, Zara Larsson, Niykee Heaton, and a little of Becky G. “The first artist song that made me realize I was able to sing was ‘Sirens’ by Cher Lloyd. That was in 2014 and I haven’t stopped loving that song”.
“I want to make relatable music. Music I would listen to. That’s all.”
